Wednesday 9 March

We are getting a proper drenching today - bad news!! Fontwell already abandoned todays card. Standing water at other track as well, including Warwick. The ground there is heavy with standing water in places and it is due to continue raining for much of the day!! It looks highly unlikely that Bold Conquest will be running there on Sunday. Chepstow have not updated their ground yet, but the reports from that part of the country suggest that they will have had over 20mm of rain overnight, with up to 10mm more due this morning - this would make it highly unlikely for their meeting to go ahead on Sautrday - ruling out the chances for Smart Exit, Bold Conquest and San Telm getting a day out. BC and ST have an option in Market Rasen on Sunday - but we will have to see what rain they get today! All in all it looks a bit bleak for the chances of running anything on Saturday! The good news is that after today it looks like we get a prolonged spell of dry, warm and settled weather, that should take us well into next week - all good for The Festival!! It was good to see a bit of form backed up yesterday. The opener in Exeter feature Fort Carson, a recent import for Ireland, who was over 30 lengths behind our new boy Visible Light, when the pair met in Clonmel early last month. Yesterday on his debut for Neil King, Fort Carson was beaten just a neck. The Clonmel race was VL's last run, and he is pleasing at home, and it is good to see that the form of it stands up over here! VL (or Ray) as he is known, will have entries on the 17th in Towcester, and the 21st in Southwell. At the moment he seems to be doing all the right things and the plan is coming together!
