Monday 4 April
Christmas Twenty made the long trip to Wetherby on Friday for the 2m 5f handicap hurdle. Travelling has been a bit of a bug bear in the past, as CT can get pretty wound up on the lorry, but again trying something a bit new seems to have been the key and he travelled very well to Yorkshire. Stuart got his hands on a pair of covering boots, big felt padded boots that are put on mares rear hooves to prevent them doing the stallion any damage should they lash out during the covering process. As CT can do an awful lot of kicking on the way to and from the races. These boots worked a treat! He stood stock still all the way up and back, and Steph even had to put a sheet on him as he was a bit chilly!! CT then ran a fine race, travelling supremely well he jumped the last in front, just finding the concession of a big lump of weigh too much in the end to be passed on the run in, and end up going down by just over 2 lengths. A super effort, and one that proves he is growing up all the time. A big well done to Stuart, Steph and is the rest of the team who have done such a great job with this horse - he has been anything but easy - but they have persuaded him to put in 3 solid runs now, and a win is surely just around the corner!! Good to se Bob and Chris over to Fences Farm on Saturday morning - a beautiful morning, and they got to see second lot all do really good pieces of work, including Smart Exit who will have an entry in Chepstow on Saturday, Bold Conquest (Exeter on the 12th) and San Telm. Exit worked rally well with Paddy Thedeejay who runs tomorrow. Our latest addition arrived from Ireland yesterday. Pull Together as third in a decent looking Point To Point the weekend before, beaten a head and three quarters of a length. He looks tough and talented, and Stuart likes what he sees. He will be ridden for the first time this morning. He is for sale, as a whole or in shares! So if you are interested then please get in touch - 07909 518902, or email info@nickbrownracing.co.uk
