A slight change of intended plans has lead to Molly Childers being declared in Towcester's concluding Mares Bumper tomorrow. She had been pencilled in for Hereford on Monday, but their ground is soft, and there are a couple of what look to be above average mares in there, so as Towcester's ground is a bit better, and the opposition doesn't look so strong we decided to declare her. Cieran Gethings, who rode her so well in Doncaster will ride again, and his 5lb claim will be invaluable up the 'Towcester Hill'. Our only concern about going to Towcester is the stiff uphill finish as Molly shows a great deal of natural speed at home, but saying that she does come up the hill very well, and her pedigree would suggest a stiffer test will suit. In fact I looked at run in an Irish Point To Point this morning before Stuart declared her, and she was one of the first off the bridle that day, but stayed on to good effect so all should be fine. Paul, one of her owners like a bit of a dance when his horses win - hopefully he will have his dancing shoes on tomorrow!! Stuart will also have Pine Warbler running in the Novice Hurdle, Cieran will ride him too, and Paddy The Deejay will run in the novices chase. It will be a fun day, as I will be in Fences Farm in the morning to show off the new girl to two prospective new owners, I am sure they will like her, as she looks a cracking prospect. Her one run was a winning one, and the form of that has already been franked in some style - in fact she has run to a 4 point higher rating than Molly Childers did in her 2 runs in Irish Point To Points, so as you can see - I think she has all the attributes to be a very good racemare. She is also by a Champion Sire in Beneficial, and will make a cracking broodmare when she is done racing, as she is the full sister to a dual bumper winner!
