Chandos Belle second in Plumpton on Monday, Land League second in Towcester on Wednesday - Molly Childers filling the same spot yesterday in Fakenham was not part of the plan. We went there confident. She had been working very well at home, has heaps of ability, and this looked a good opportunity for her. Stuart had introduced some things to her training that made us feel sure we had all bases covered. Molly had other ideas, She turned into the very short straight with the race at her mercy, but when she reached the cut away rail, and found herself with no rail on her inner, and all alone in front she started to have a good look about her. She then hung badly right, and it was all Ciaran could do to get her going in the right direction again. He had his whip in the right hand, and initially tried to get her going straight without using it until this proved fruitless and he had to give her a smack to try and straighten her. When he did, she then 'sprouted wings' and ran all the way to the line. Having veered violently off the track, and lost all momentum, to go down by just a length is astonishing. She has loads of ability, but also seems to have a little quirky streak, Stuart and the team will iron her out, and the plan is still to head to Sandown next month. It was very unfortunate for Ciaran, who was the victim of some serious internet trolling last month after being unseated in a race in Hereford - a story that made the front oage of the Racing Post, and yyesterday a few of the 'keyboard warriors' were at it again. Ciaran was not to blame - a 10 stone man against half a ton of horse that wants to go the wrong way is a miss match, he did well to get her straight again and get her up for second. Yesterday was just one of those things - we all live to fight another day, and we know that we have a serious mare!
