Tuesday 25 April

The vet was in this morning and was really pleased with the progress that Land League is making after his fall on Friday. He trotted up 100% sound, but the haematoma that came up is now dissipating, and the fluid is making its way down his forearm to his knee. This area now holds the swelling, and this will need to go down before he can go out in the field. The timescale of this is unsure, but the great news is that he is definitely going in the right direction. This is the good news, the bad news is that the handicapper saw fit to raise him 7lbs for the fall. Stuart was straight on the phone, and as we expected he was not for changing his mind. He admits that on the face of it it is harsh, but he also stated that there is a case for putting him up on the back of his Huntingdon run - so we will just have to deal with it! Apasionado will remain on the walker for a few weeks. Controlled exercise is the favoured option at the moment. Punchestown starts today - a great Festival, and I wish I was over there! A new horse arrives tomorrow or Thursday, and another one is vetted in Ireland tomorrow. These are both really exciting horses, and I can't wait to see them on the track next season. They will be available as a whole or in shares.
