Friday 26 May
Just two words to describe the last 4 days in Doncaster at the Goffs Uk Spring Sale - Red Hot!! This is the only way to sum up both the trade and the weather!! Fortunately we had not gone there with a serious intent on buying as we very nearly have our team sorted for next season, but those that we considered made a lot more than we were willing to pay for them, so we would not have come home with them anyway! The weather was outstanding as it has been for much of the country, and the presence of a natty little Pimms Van next to the stand where we had the Theault Horseboxes was quite welcome to say the least!! It did mean that our Firsto Model became the Party Bus throughout the week, playing host to a huge Gigginstown team, of Gordon Elliot, Eddie O'Leary, Noel Meade etc, and the top Point To Point team of the Doyles - who consigned the weeks top lot, and were rightly celebrating!! As the days drew to a close, the place resembled an explosion in a Greengocers, there was that much fruit on the grass!! It was a glorious week - we were very busy, and it was good to see so many people spending money on horses ( and horseboxes)! Stuart popped up on Wednesdsay with a team keen to have a new horse at Fences Farm, but unfortunately the strong trade meant they left disappointed, their search goes on. Stuart has Kayla entered in Cartmel tomorrow, and Fontwell on Sunday. Earlier I mentioned that we have our team nearly sorted for next year - the one thing that we always like to have is a juvenile hurdler on the team - and we are working on that - with contacts in Germany keeping us abreast of things over there, and the July Sales in Newmarket approaching, we should be getting our three year old soon enough!!
