Thursday 10 August
Land League worked yesterday and went well. He has earned himself a few entries next week. He will have 2 entries in Bangor On Dee next Wednesday, and 2 entries in Fontwell the day after on the 17th. A final decision as to where he goes will be made after he has worked on Saturday morning, and we have looked at the relative strengths of each of the races he is engaged in. After work yesterday he was given the once over by the 'back lady', Lucy - who gave both him and Cloonacool a clean bill of health. Cloonacool is having an easier week or so, as he is ahead of schedule due to not needing a wind op. We have decided to bring Sumu, the 2 yr old (by Mamool), who is currently at the Elms, back to Fences Farm for a further spell of education. He is a very Forward young horse, and one that we feel could be suited by an early campaign over hurdles in around 12 months time. For this reason we think it is best to stagger his education, and now is the right time to get his 'secondary schooling' in. He will stay at Fences Farm for around 6 weeks, and will do plenty of cantering before returning to The Elms. He is a super looking individual, by a sire we like a lot, out of a Black Type winning mare, who has bred winners and is herself a half sister to the very good hurdler Sternrubin - you can see why we are very excited by him!
