Sunday 10 September

Cloonacool has been under the weather for the past few days. He was scoped last week, and was found to be thick with mucus. He is on a course of antibiotics, and is on a few days of gentle exercise, in an attempt to clear him up. He will be scoped again tomorrow morning, to see if the antibiotics are working. It needs to be, if not, his run in Market rasen on the 30th is very much in the balance! Yesterday he went for a gentle ride around the farm, and led 2 yr old Sumu in a canter along the top of the gallop. Sumu is a very impressive young horse, he has a super attitude, and is a very athletic mover - he will be offered for sale (as a whole o in shares) in about a week when he has done a bit more cantering to confirm that he is as nice as we think he is! Maria's Benefit will head to Worcester on Tuesday. She worked yesterday with Molly Childers and Kayla, and did it well enough to earn her spot. She is a lovely mare, and hopefully she will have a good season ahead of her! Sneaking Budge and Vinegar Hill both cantered with this lot. Third lot we saw the young horses stride on a bit quicker for just the second time. Clondaw Native and Theclockisticking led Classic Ben and Blacckbird. All of them did it very nicely. Fourth Lot Chandos Belle, Kaloci, Queenohearts, Pull Together all cantered along with Pine Warbler and Grey Warbler. They all look in fantastic form! Legal OK runs in Fontwell this afternoon, he needs to settle to show his best - new headgear employed today - Stuart is leaving no stone unturned! Kayla has entries later this week, both over hurdles and fences. She has jumped fences very well at home and Ciaran will school her himself over the bigger ones on Monday. On Friday I popped over to The Elms Stud to see Figarella Borget, the 2 yr old 3/4 sister to Sprinter Sacre has settled in well, and looks a treat. Due to some very frustrating time-wasters - I do have 2 shares in her to lease - Just £8/week (£35/month), gets you a 4% share in this most exciting young horse. This is all inclusive, and will cover her keep, and vets and breaking in bills until October 2018, when the costs will rise to £25/week (£110/month) when she enters training. nickbrownracing@gmail.com to book your place! Where else can you get a share in a 3/4 sister to a true Champion?? Photos: Top Fences Farm, Next: Sneaking Budge, Next: Sumu, Next: Classic Ben, Next Figarella Borget
