Saturday 23 April
Colebrooke, the first of the new faces to arrive at Fences Farm enjoyed his first look around the place this morning. Having had an easy day yesterday with just a brief spell on the walker, today, he had his first taste of the gallop when doing a nice gentle canter past us on the top of the hill. He is a lovely chap - really well behaved and moved past us eyecatchingly. Colebrooke will reamin in for the next few days, which will give his new owners, who include Jay Tabb and Ben Turner (part owners of Bobby Gee) the chance to get to Fences Farm on Tuesday to see their new boy, before he has a brief spell in the field. Also out on the gallops were Kikos and E Major who both did swinging pieces of work and went very well. Other good news is that I have secured the new National Hunt Store horse (subject to him passing a thorough veterinary examination). He will be vetted on Tuesday, after which I will be able to give you all the details about him, but take it from me - he is a really handsome looker with a pedigree too match! He will be a very welcome addition to the team!
