Tuesday 7 May
It was all change yesterday, as the horses all arrived at their destinations for their summers. Omaruru, Colebrooke and Smart Exit are all over at Ann and Colin Garratts, Ringtail Farm, where they will lay out on holiday until July. Thanks to the Garratts for having them. Tara Dancer has arrived at Fences Farm from Michael and Fiona Kehoes, looking in good order, and will now start some slow and gentle exercise under saddle in her build up to a return to the racecourse.Benefit Cut has joined San Telm in the summer turnout field at Fences Farm and will remain there until about mid June when he will return to work. As he enjoys a sound surface he will come back in a couple of weeks early so that he is ready to run in the late summer before the ground goes very soft, he will then have a mid winter break and be freshened up for a spring campaign next year - a lot to look forward to!! San Telm will remain out for a further 2-3 weeks as we will not be looking to run him on any fast ground, and he will, be aimed at a nice handicap hurdle in the Autumn before switching his attention to Chasing. Genny Wren was fifth on Saturday, and although she probably does her best, she is just not very quick - congratulations to Sam, who got on the score sheet for the new season with a nice winner in Uttoxeter! The trawl through the sales catalogues continues - the long short list, became a shortlist, and is rapidly becoming a very very short shortlist. We have identified a couple of targets, and will concentrate on these, but there is no panic as there are more sales to come throughout the next couple of months!
