Friday 26 July
My head was a tad sore this morning!! Yesterday was Eversholt Cricket Clubs big day - the day when The Lashings All Stars Cricket team come along to play the First XI. Eversholt do a great job and were rewarded by a record crowd. The marquee was packed for lunch, with plenty of tables sold, and a great deal of money was raised, both for the club and charities. The Lashings XI this year featured some real stars of the game - Courtney Walsh, Andrew Caddick and Wasim Jaafer to name but 3! No Surprise then that Eversholt were soundly beaten in the afternoon sun!! But is was a very enjoyable match. It was also nice to meet the England Captain Alistair Cook, who is a local lad and once played for Eversholt. Alistair popped down in the evening to see how things were going and was very keen to have is photo taken with me!!! Back at home - and on Wednesday Benefit Cut was scoped to ensure that he was fit and well and not suffering form the sort of ailment that afflicted him last season. Always best to do this before they start any strenuous work. Pleased to report that the scope was clear and he is 100%!
