Thursday 1 September
The vet was in this morning to scope a few before they get down to some proper hard work. All were clear apart from Molly Childers, who has a bit of a spotty throat which is typical of young horses. She will have a course of antibiotics to clear her up and will carry on! The rest of the string are in fine fettle. Cloonacool and Bold Conquest will head out for an away day next week. BC is being targetted at a race in Warwick on Sept 20th, it will be touch and go but he should be ready! The past weekend was a good one for a couple of our 'old men'. Smart Exit did his first one day event, and not only went well, he managed to win. Alice says that he has taken to his new discipline like a duck to water, and is thoroughly enjoying himself. He looks to have a nice future in that sphere. Ravenstone Lad was also in the limelight - managing to make the evening session of the Retraining Of Racehorses National Showing Championships event held at Aintree Racecourse. In the end they finished a magnificent 8th!! Well done to both horses and riders!! Good luck for the future - it is lovely that these horses get to enjoy a life after racing!!
