Wednesday 11 January
Not too much news to report at the moment. like a lot of yards, Stuart gives all of his horses their jabs at the beginning of January, and for that reason, the ones in hard work, have a couple of days doing a bit less. They all seem fit and well, and there will be entries for a few of ours in the next couple of weeks, with Land League, and Chandos Belle both getting an outing. Land Leagues options are: 18th Market Rasen, 19th Ludlow, 21st Taunton, 22nd Hereford, 24th Leicester, 25th Ludlow, 26th Fakenham. The options for Chandos Belle are: 24th Wetherby, 25th Ludlow, 26th Fakenham, 26th Warwick. Cloonacool who is fine after his run at the weekend, could be entered for Doncaster on the 28th - Stuart and I will discuss, his hurdles mark has dropped to 128 this morning, but his next run will be a handicap chase. Molly Childers has had her work load lifted, and her possible race targets are: 9th February Huntingdon, 17th February Fakenham, 18th February Ascot, and the 24th of February in Warwick. Apasionado is in good order, and all roads lead to Kempton in February. Talking of Kempton - shocking news yesterday, that The Jockey Club are looking to sell off the track for building - a very concerning scenario, especially as the sugar to sweeten the pill was the promise of a new All Weather track in Newmarket! This doesn't seem to consider Jump racing in any shape or form. All Weather racing crowds in Kempton are very poor, but rather than going to these drastic moves, I wonder if it would not be better to try a couple of alternatives before closing a great track. Perhaps a free entry trial - this seems to work in Towcester, and they have a far bigger possible audience on their doorstep in Kempton! It will be devastating to see Kempton Park close, and judging by the reaction in the press and on social media, it seems that I am not alone in thinking it! Just a note - I will not be at Fences Farm on Saturday, as I am having a day at a different sport.
