Always lovely to hear from Edmunds on a Monday morning - especially when he rings to say that 3 of the fillies in his care are ready to run, and one is just a week behind them. Figarella Borget has schooled very well, and is ready to make her hurdling debut. With the recent very dry spell, he has not been able to school her on grass yet, but hopefully with a pretty wet week forecast, that should be done this week. The perfect heat for her is on the 2 October in Bangor On Dee - a mares novices hurdle over 2m 3 1/2f, and that will be her first entry, with other possible races after that against the boys. Getaway Mixie is showing signs of being very much back to her best, and is a completely different proposition to the mare that we saw last season. She has the option of running in a bumper or going over hurdles. This season she has been pretty keen in her work, so it may be a good idea to give her another run in a bumper to get her back in the swing of things, but she has already run in 3 Irish points, and has schooled well, so she could start over hurdles. There are plenty of options for her between the 1st and the 9th of October in both disciplines. Go Millie Go is ready to make her debut for the very patient, Chicheley Partnership at last. She didn't make it to the track last season, but the trainer likes her, and hopefully he is right, as he has recommended her to a few of his friends who have taken a share in her! She too has plenty of options, and would ideally head to a Ludlow mares bumper, but the ground there could be very quick, so we will keep all options open and look at hurdles and open bumpers in the first week of October. Molly Childers is in great order, and ready to go again - there are a few options in staying hurdles and chases between the 4th and the 15 October - she will ply her trade in stayiong events over the forthcoming season, and there is hopefully a nice handicap in her. Classic Ben will also run in some top staying handicaps this season, and although a crack at the Beecher Chase has been talked about - he would probably only just sneak in the bottom of that handicap, and other options may prove more suitable pre Christmas. If he handles the soft ground, as he seemed to very well when winning in Sandown last season, he could have a fun season in some of the marathon handicap chases. San Seb also came in a month after the first bunch, and is going really well - he will start off in handicap hurdles, but there is nothing to suggest he couldn't switch to chasing as a 4 yr old if the timings work. Land League is going well after his latest wind op. He looks great, and will be out in a couple of weeks all being well. Good to see so many at the Edmunds' open morning, and although we have nothing for sale in the yard it was good to have plenty of enquires - and a few shares taken in Blue Bikini. As you can imagine - we are still very much trying to add to the squad - but it is really difficult, and getting the right horses for the right prices is a matter of great patience! We have broadened the spread of our net just lately, and I am sure our bigger web will trap a tasty morsel very soon. We have plenty if interested parties ready to join a new syndicate, so we will continue to strive to get the right horse very soon.
