That Inbetween Time

The few days between Christmas and the New year, is always a busy one in the racing world, with plenty of meetings on. Today Molly Childers ran in the 3m mares handicap hurdle in Kempton. Once again she ran a really brave race, as, like it has been for most of her career, she still struggled with her wind. She has now had 2 wind ops, but it is still not perfect, and she runs through her problem very bravely. The trouble is - she gives up vital ground when the race starts in earnest, but stays on at the death. Today she lost lengths in the back straight, but battled so gamely to finish fourth, just a couple of lengths off of second. We will see how she is over the next few days, and decide what to do with her. On Sunday it is a fresh new dawn for us, as we have our first runner for a yard other than Fences Farm, when 3 yr old Yauthym makes her hurdling debut in Doncaster. Under the care of Fergal O'Brien, she will be ridden by Paddy Brennan. Yauthym is a beautifully bred filly, who is likely to be seen at her best over hurdles, as she is the half sister to a Cheltenham Festival winner. We are eagerly awaiting her debut, and have a plan in place for her for the rest of the season. All of the shares are now sold, and we wish her owners the very best of luck with her. On Monday we head up to Haydock with Classic Ben. He's in good form I'm told, and looked well when we saw him school last week. fingers crossed we can finish the year on a high!!
