Well that didn't take long!! Volkovka, a 3 yr old daughter of Camelot arrived from France 2 weeks ago, and on Sunday the 10 shares in her sold out! She is a fantastic prospect, by a great sire - a winner on the flat in France, with a rating of 81 - she should feature well in the juvenile ranks this season. She has a great bunch of new owners who hail from as far south as Plymouth, right up to Liverpool, and we wish them all the very best of luck with her. She will head into Fergal O'Briens Ravenswell Farm this week, and will make her hurdling debut later this month. Once again we have a couple of disappointed parties that missed out on a share in her - but rest assured I will be purchasing another horse for a new syndicate in the very near future. Also heading into Ravenswell Farm on the same lorry as Volkovka will be San Seb, who has been in pre training with Jason Maguire. He continues to go well, and hopefully he stays sound and his patient owners will get to see him run again. Last week we had a few runners - Go Millie Go ran a cracking race for her seasonal debut in Bangor On Dee. She travelled well and jumped soundly in the main, just finding a smart mare of Alan Kings too good on the day. I believe the winner is highly thought of, so there is no embarrassment in finishing second to her, well clear of the remainder. GMG is sure to have her day very soon. On Sunday another couple got to make their seasonal bows. Our Bubba returned from a mammoth layoff in the maiden hurdle that opened Uttoxeter's card. This looked like a decent little heat, and he ran well. His jumping was simply awful, and he paid no heed to his obstacles, but he travelled well despite that, with the lack of a recent run taking it's toll in the end. He finished fifth, but his owners were delighted to have him back. He has since schooled over every obstacle at home, and after speaking to his owners, and the trainer - it very much looks as though we will be parking his hurdle career for now, and he will head over fences. Molly Childers made her seasonal comeback in a very competitive handicap hurdle. She had been in good form at home and travelled really well for a circuit, before her old foe - her breathing, caught her out a bit. She isn't as good over hurdles, as they don't help her with her wind, but the lack of a suitable race pushed us down this route. She will return to fences, and will have her day in one of the small field mares races again this season. Next week Hi Ho Silva Lining will have an entry in a bumper in Huntingdon. He didn't make the track in the spring due to immaturity, but is going nicely at home, and is ready to make his debut. At the weekend we saw a fantastic renewal of the Prix De L'Arc de Triomphe - where most of the UK eyes were on Enable to see if she could win a third Arc. My eyes were on another runner though - In Swoop, who on just his fifth start ran a superb race to finish second, confirming himself as the best staying 3 yr old in Europe. Why watch him I hear you ask? Well, we have a very close relative of his in one of our investment syndicates, and we are therefore delighted to see such a talent in the family. Also at the weekend over in Germany, a close relative of another of our youngsters was second in a Group 1, adding more depth to his pedigree, It goes to show that the men have the right horses on the team! We have added another horse to the NBR team this weekend -more news on this in the near future.
