Sunday 11 April
Great to see the Fences Farm team hit form with a vengeance this weekend with an Aintree double with Rowland Ward on Friday and Hometown Boy yesterday. Congratulations to all involved! We have just the three left there - and only one if those remains in training - Go Millie Go, who is in great order, and has entries in Cheltenham and Ayr next week. Blue Bikini has not been re shod, and is now just on the walker waiting for a bit of warmth, sunshine and grass growth. Classic Ben will head out for his holiday when he has completed his treatment. Hi Ho Silver Lining will not run again this season, he too will head off on holiday as soon as the weather permits. The same applies down at Ravenswell Farm, where the only one that now remains in work is Yauthym. She seems fine after her run in Market Rasen, and will run again in a couple of weeks. It was good to be back there yesterday - and see Hidden Beauty on the gallop for the last time this spring. She is a simply stunning filly - and everyone that has had anything to do with her is very excited by her. It is definitely the right thing to do, to let her off and bring her back for bumpers in the autumn - from what everyone has said about her, she is a very exciting prospect! She will head to The Elms Stud for the summer. While down there I nipped into Ivy Lodge Farm. There are currently 6 of our horses there - San Seb, and Volkovka, and the new 3 yr old filly, who are just waiting on the weather so that they can go on holiday. We also have 'Mini', the 3 yr old half sister to Queenohearts who is being broken in before a summer break. She is very much like her big half sis, and looks like a lovely filly. Also being broken in is Dean - the 2 yr old by Doyen out of Savingforvegas. He is adjusting to working life - and can certainly be described as spirited! He is a hardy fellow, but is coming round to the proper way of life now! The last of the bunch is a 2 yr old Highland Reel filly who is being handled and educated, something that will stand her in good stead for the future - she has a lovely nature, and is a quick learner. Olly Murphy reports Auditoria to be in fine form. She was not declared to run on the flat this week as the ground went Good To Firm, so she will remain in training for now, and see if there is any wet weather about - and if none comes she too will head off on holiday. The time has nearly arrived for us to pop our smashing 3 yr old gelding by Mamool on the market - He is currently in with Charlie Poste and is doing nothing but impress. He is a fine looking horse, with a great mind, that is described as very athletic and finds everything very easy. There has already been an enormous amount of interest in him, with most of the 10 shares already spoken for. He will return to The Elms for a few weeks R&R on some spring grass before heading down to Fergal O'Briens in July. We all like him a lot - and can't wait to introduce him to you all properly in the coming week. Please get in touch if you would like further information about him, or would like to book a time to come and see him! nickbrownracing@gmail.com or 07909 518902 At The Elms - Savingforvegas and her foal are both doing well, and it was great to see them again on Thursday. 'Barry' is thriving, and we will be getting a date organised very soon for her syndicate to get together and see him. The general feeling is that, even though 'Vegas' has produced 3 lovely bay colts in the past - this one is her best yet. Molly Childers sadly was not in foal after her first visit to Planteur, and she went back for a second time last weekend. Fingers crossed she takes to him this time. Also at The Elms we have 2 horses well into the preparation for the store sales which are fast approaching. The Telescope, half brother to Gold Gup hero Sizing John, is a very imposing individual, and it was good to see a son of Telescope sell well in Newmarket last week. We will also be offering a big, tall daughter of Camelot in Doncaster. Out of a Listed winner, she is a half sister to 2 black type performers on the flat, and a full sister to a Grade 1 hurdler. Recent Cheltenham third Elham Valley has also crept on to her already packed page, and I think she will be very popular in Doncaster. The 2 boys heading to the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale in June will begin their prep very soon.
