Saturday 22 July
Stuarts yard is filling up, and with it come the owners. On Thursday Ian and Alison were in to see the horses. A motorway delay meant they missed work, but they got to see the horses in their boxes, and after a cup of tea we nipped up to The Elms to see Savingforvegas, and her foal 'Elvis' who are both owned by their son Ben. Yesterday Ann and Julia were in to see Now McGinty, and Land League. Land League and Cloonacool are doing plenty of cantering and seem in really good shape. They will both head down to Gloucestershire to have their wind checked out in a couple of weeks. The results of the overland scope will be very interesting, and if our thoughts are right - Cloonacool will have a little attention, and still be on course for Market Rasen in September! We are looking at Land League at the same time, and will decide what to do when we see the results on the day. A few more of the yard are starting to canter now, and it will not be long before the place is buzzing with fast work and runners! Of our other horses - Apasionado is on a regime of controlled (not ridden exercise), and is looking very well and relaxed. Classic Ben is thrilling everyone that has ridden him - he is a very forward 4 yr old, and impresses in his paces - he gives his riders a lovely feel at this stage - they like him a lot, and are seldom wrong - so that is very good news! Molly Childers is in good fettle, and being a bit of a monkey - she looks fantastic! Sneaking Budge is now in, looks great, and has been shod and ridden - hopefully a clear run with him from here! Mares Kaloci, Queenohearts and Chandos Belle are still on holiday as they need soft ground that we won't get until a bit later in the year, but they will all be in at the start of August. It is all getting going now!!
